Musings: The Hoard Blog

Momus at his desk. Image generated with openart.ai

Welcome to Musings!

I dedicate this blog to Momus. I honor his presence with gratitude and acknowledge his power. Read the full Dedication here.

Who is Momus? My patron originally inhabited the Greek pantheon as the god of satire, fearless criticism and (the connection I feel deepest) irony. To learn more about Momus, go here.

Why Momus? Why has irony become my North Star?  Read the story here.

What exactly IS irony anyway? Read my take on it here.

As well as giving the god his due (because his pointed humor needs a forum) I also keep track of the things I've learned in my quest to dig myself out of unhealthy ruts and find a way to live my best life (all kept here for easy access when I need reminders) (cuz wow is it easy to forget). And I'll post my pics here on the regular cuz that's just fun.

A Note on the Art Used

My Stance on AI

I fear the possible future of AI, deplore many of the uses AI is being put to in the modern world, and acknowledge that many of the initial training tactics amounted to piracy. I don't take using AI lightly.

I made the decision to use art drawings generated on openart.ai to illustrate my blog because I have zero drawing talent and it allowed me to create exactly what I wanted. I did not take any work away from a real artist, as I wouldn't hire an artist to illustrate something that is purely for my own shits and giggles - I do not promote or monetize my website. (If someday I should do so, I will revisit the decision.) Using AI saved me from pirating art from elsewhere to illustrate my posts. I clearly attribute when AI has been used in the creation.

The photography throughout my website is my own. I do use photo editing  applications (Bridge, Photoshop, BeFunky and Prisma) that include AI tools (I think it impossible to find any that don't have them these days), but the images and decision making in edit are my own.

The dragon drawings and illustrative art are generated on openart.ai.
